Before we continue this article it is necessary here to mention that this is a continuation of the previous article which was published under the title "Etea (How to Prepare)". So make sure you also read that one once you complete reading this one !
The Previous article can be found ===> HERE
This article will include the following contents:
- How to Study different subjects
- Time Table
- How To Attempt MCQs
- Other Books (Books of other textboards)
- Sunday Tests
- Scenario of the MAIN Entrance Test
WHY SHOULD YOU FOLLOW THIS STRATEGY:-
There are many ways of doing a particular task and we come to know about those ways once we are exposed to that task. Some People perform better while others DON'T. This is because different people follow different strategies. So if you guys are about to do a task let's say ETEA then its better get some ideas from those who had already got through it. As I told you about "different strategies"
If you ask someone who had already cleared ETEA and follow their strategy , it is most likely that you are going to succeed. This article mainly explains my experience about ETEA. SO YOU GUYS GIVE IT A READ AND YOU MIGHT GET SOMETHING USEFUL AT THE END!
Note.. this article doesn't mean that this is the only possible way of succeeding and if you dont follow it or your method of studying is different then you are going to fail. This is mainly for the purpose of guidance, there may be points where you ll be strong at and there will be points where I ll be strong at, so by combining both you can have a perfect combination of "Study Method" that ultimately leads you to your goal.
How To Study Different Subjects:
We ll be discussing all the four subjects separately for better explanation.( Mainly Physics and Biology) { Chemistry and Physics are explained in the first version of the article , the link to which is given at the top of this page }
Biology:
As per the previous article the rules wont change. Its the same book and the same ETEA so things won't change. Although I'll be adding different things as they occur to me.
- 1. Most of the students complain "I forget things in biology recurrently". I say , to cope with it , you need to learn it in portions. By portions I mean that you don't need to memorize the whole book in 2 or 3 days and then you don't even look at it for the next week just because you ll be studying a different book then. I say you study biology each day. Make it this way : Study two chaps a day. First finish 1st yr Bio then switch over to second year. I would suggest studying 1st and 8th chapter today... 2nd and 9th chapter tomorrow.. 3rd and 10th the next day and continue...This is because initial chapters of the book are smaller and the last ones are comparatively longer. So if you are moving this way it means you are keeping a balance among chapters.. if you study 1st and 2nd today and 3rd and 4th tomorrow then you ll be studying smaller chapters in the beginning (will take less time) and longer ones in the end (will take longer time). Studying this way mainly helps you memorize things efficiently and you have an overall picture of the book before you at the same time( You are aware of the first and last chapters at the same time)
- 2.There are different points in the book which are incorrect e.g it is written in "Aging and Development" that "Implantation takes place in the 4th week of pregnancy" although it never occurs so. Students ask teachers about these controversial points or search them on the internet and then make them correct in their books but I don't recommend doing so. MCQs in main entrance test will come directly from the book so you might be correct in your mind but the examiner don't care about your views. THEY ACCEPT ONLY ONE STANDARD AND THAT IS THE BOOK! So Learn these things as they are.. Don't change them( It is something unfortunate but what can we do! :(
- 3. There are different tables in our book .MCQs do come from them. Learning them is necessary. Try to study them each day so that you dont forget them. For example There are mentioned PH values of different enzymes in chapter 3. If you give it a look each day it ll take only a minute but after a week or so You will be able to recall them on your finger tips.( This is How you can avoid forgetting things)
- 4. Animalia and Plantae are two most disturbing chapters in Biology ... headache i would say! But there is a trick that you can use! I never considered them as a part of my 1st year biology. I studied them separately ..giving them separate time in my time table. I would only learn one Phylum each day but after a month or so I had learnt both the chapters. Also it is necessary that you give a look to the previous phylum. Like you memorized Annelida today then... tomorrow I ll be memorizing lets say Arthropoda ..but i ll also give a look to Annelida (it will take only 2 or 3 minutes but is is worth it) (Again... This is How you can avoid forgetting things) . Dont take it hard. If you only give it 30 minutes each day it ll be done. Also it is here essential to note,as discussed in point number 1 that i would study chapter 1st and 8th on the same day ..that doesnt mean that i wont study plantae separately that day. YOU ll ve to keep both these things separately. DONT get tensed that how am i going to cover chapter 2 and 9 on a single day ... you can adjust it with other days..
- 5.Diagrams are important . Dont skip them. DONT LEAVE A DIAGRAM UNTIL YOU HAVE LEARNT SOMETHING UNIQUE IN IT ( Means Give it a perfect read )
- 6. There is no need to solve biology mcqs in different books. If you keep reading your book and attend Sunday tests ..that is enough. (Solving lets say 60 mcqs will most likely take 60 minutes.. You can read a whole new chapter in this much time)
- 7.Stick to the book from this day to the test date.. dont leave it in between ... you can forget whole biology in just a week..so be conscious about it.
- 8.Biology is something every student know..so dont ever think of taking it light ..Do give it proper time.( UPDATE : SINCE THE WEIGHTAGE OF BIOLOGY HAS BEEN INCREASED, IT FURTHER INCREASES ITS IMPORTANCE )
PHYSICS:-
As per the previous discussion , we know that physics is the main subject that determines our success in the entrance test. If you are an aspirant who thinks to be among the toppers then you will have to work on physics because chemistry and biology are subjects that each and every student know. The following points could be helpful regarding physics:
- 1. Since your FSc exams are over, you should be giving less attention to the theory stuff. Just go through a topic (not wasting too much time on it) and then move on to the final equations. Practice the equation again and again. Take a page and write a single formula on that page again and again ... you ll never ever again forget this formula after such practice. After that take another page(separate from the first one) and write all the formulas of a chapter on that page. This helps you summarize your book. The next time you see this chapter, you dont need to study the whole chapter or you can just go through the book for the sake of satisfaction and take the page on which you have written all the equations. Do this separately for all the chapters (1st yr and 2nd yr)
- 2. Even after following this procedure , if you think you forget the equations and dont know which equation you should use when solving MCQs then follow this approach. Summarize equations related to one thing on one page , lets say Electric flux. There are a lot of formulas for electric flux discussed in our book. You need to write all of them on a single page. This will help you to be aware of all the formulas of a single topic at the same time so when you are reading a question, all the equations related to that question will be available to you at the same time in your mind.
- 3. When solving MCQs try to extract data related to physics. It means that , while reading questions I ll not focus on whether it is a boy standing or a girl standing or doing something. I ll just focus on things such as mass , radius, height etc. Also it is helpful to write them at the side of the question as you read it, when you realize that this question contains the following variables..then it becomes easy to configure which formula or equation you must be using.
- 4. Solving MCQs is very necessary . Solve as much MCQs as you can. I cannot give more stress on this BUT if you want to score good, Solving Mcqs is something obligatory.
- 5. Certain Chapters are much more important than others , you need to give more attention to them. In 1st yr Physics chapter 2nd, 3rd, 5th,7th,8th and 10th are important. It doesn't mean the rest are not important but you need to be more serious and give more time to these. In second year physics chapter 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th,8th and 10th are important.(Again.... dont leave the others...)
- 6. Mostly learning physcis from a good teacher helps you improve your skills. But those who couldn't attend a good teacher, I would suggest reading sir IZHAR's notes for Physics. (Available at Coffee Shop , Peshawar). They include important tricks and techniques which probably you wont be able to learn by yourself. Note that Sir IZHAR did not write those notes himself. It is actually handwritten lecture notes of one of his students. (Available for both 1st and 2nd yr)
- 7. Dont waste your time on derivations. Only learn the final equations. Also solve MCQs given at the end of exercise and also solve the Numericals .. they also include some crcuial concepts.
CHEMISTRY & ENGLISH:-
Refer to the previous article for Chemistry and English ...( I am sorry but I couldn't think of something new) . The link to the previous article is given at the top of this page.
SUNDAY TESTS:-
There was detailed discussion about what you should do regarding Sunday tests in the previous article. Refer to that one.
Here I would make an addition that those students who think they belong to far flung areas and can attend Sunday tests by no means..then there are two alternatives for them
- One is Engeecon ( they can provide you their tests in hard form by TCS or you can take test online)
- The other is Pakprep.com where you ll take online tests.
Still i would say ..being present at the center and attending the test is far better than attending the test online.
HOW TO ATTEMPT MCQS(METHOD):-
Here we ll discuss how can you fill mcqs in pink sheath in a way that
- Saves your time
- Helps you avoid double/wrong filling
First you take your pink sheath and place it in your clip board. Now open your question paper.. go through your whole paper from 1 to 200... solve those mcqs which you can solve and leave those which you cant...give 10 to 20s to a question that you think is difficult..it might be easy but the statement may be confusing..if the question really is hard or takes time then leave it for the end ..lets say i dont answer to question 1 .. i would circle it ..a big circle... then i would write 1 at the bottom of the page.. now i know question 2.. i ll mark tick at two places ...one at the question number and one at the choice... then i dont know question 3 .. so i would circle it and write 3 adjacent to 1 at the bottom of the page..This way you know which mcqs you have solved and which ones you have left ..lets say there were 20 questions on first page ... i didnt know 1 ,3 ,6 ,19
so there will be written 1 ,3,6 and 19 at the bottom of the page..so that next time if I come ..I know that i ve left them..
Now you have finished the paper one time and most likely you ll have solved 120 or so questions... Now take your pink sheath... and start filling ...fill it this way.. the answer to question 1 is lets say A... 2 is B .. 3 is C... so i would say to myslef... 1 2 3 ... A B C.. and then put dots in those three places in the pink sheath.. here it is to be noted that you need to put dots.. not filling it completely ..we ll do that later..
Now keep moving this way and put dots in 3 3 mcqs.. and if you have left a question somewhere.. give it attention... lets say in question 31 answer is B ... 32 (left) ..33 is C.. so dont make a mistake but putting dot in option C in 32 instead of 33... (The machine cannot catch a dot ..i ve checked it... better avoid it... but still if you put it wrong somewhere..dont get tensed.. just fill the correct one and leave the dot as it is.. The MACHINE WONT CATCH IT..Dont Worry..That is why i prefer putting dots initially rather than filling..
once you have put dots in those 120-130 mcqs start filling them ..but not at once ..here at this point you ll be tired.. you you ll relax yourself f...Fill mcqs upto question 25,,,then open first page of question paper and try solving some of those mcqs which you ve left..(Numbers that you ve written at the bottom of the page) then again fill 25 mcqs...and then solve a few questions..and so on...
this way when you finish filling...you will have filled upto 140-150 mcqs..
now the rest is upto your knowledge ... solve those mcqs that you ve left and fill them on the spot..
A good scorer will solve 170+ mcqs... ( Only if you ve studied enough). This is how I used to attempt MCQs... Try it in one of your sunday tests.. if it works for you..well and good...if not... use your own method..Maybe your method is better than mine.
OTHER BOOKS ( Apart from textbooks )
- 1. FOR BIOLOGY.... A BIG NO......you dont need to touch federal books or punjab text books or indian books...or even mcqs books... just stick to your book and keep reading it again and again as explained above..
- 2. FOR PHYSICS:-. Physics is something conceptual... Different books differ from one another mainly in their theory .. the final equations are the same..whether kpk books or federal books..so here again..you own book is sufficient,.... studying federal books at FSc level might help students in getting material for their papers.. but it wont help you that much for ETEA.. If you know the equations of your book and know what they mean.. You are a master at Physics.. and you ll score 50+ even if you dont study federal or Indian books..
- 3. FOR CHEMISTRY...1st yr chemistry is conceptual .and you might read federal books along with your main book.. but dont read it the same way as you study your KPK book.. just give a read to the federal one.. and if you think.. a point is important write it in your book... next time dont open federal book...already the main points are there in your book. For 2nd yr chemistry also... do the same thing.. as discussed above... mainly use it for chapter 1 ,2 and 4. You might leave the others in Federal book.
MCQs BOOKS:-
This portion is best explained in the previous article.. but I would add a few books here.
- * REDSPOT for Physics( This is an extremly tough book and is for those aspirants who think they have solved all the other books and now they are free ...or they have much more time which they want to consume on solving MCQS.. it is not necessary to solve it if you are a beginner...means that you havent completed you studies till now)
- * NEET Chemistry ( Again..take care.. if you are freeeeeee and you have a lot of time ..only then solve it...Dont solve it at beginner's level.)
I am writing their names because students are mostly eager about knowing names of the different.. although they dont study them but they want to get more and more... so if you want to increase your stock then download them,,, but honestly saying i dont recommend them... i ve never solved them... still I got a better score...Those students who are in FSc.. they might study them.. It ll help you alot at intermediate level..
TIME TABLE:-
This is something i dont know myself..I never could follow a time table myself ..but can help you in making one..
The helping points would be:
- Try keeping biology at the time when you wake up.
- Try keeping physics at the time when you dont want to sleep but you feel sleepy
- Adjust chemistry and English in between
Most of the students complain..that they forget things..this is because they open one book and study it for 1 or 2 days then open another book and so on..Dont do this..
Try studying all the subjects in a single day...like 1st yr BIO, 1st yr Chem..1st yr Phy,,.. 1st yr English... each day... solve only 1 chapter in each subject.. if you are good then solve two from each of them.. once 1st yr is completed ..start second yr and proceed.it will take you aproximately 20-22 days to finish your course this way..but it will be well memorized...next time it ll be easy.
Scenario OF THE MAIN ENTRANCE TEST:-
Mainly under this section we ll discussing what happens on the test day and what you need to do before going to the BATTLEFIELD!
aaaaaaaaah! Dont get tensed guys! its easy as a piece of cake.
Try to summarize your whole course 1 day before the test. lets say you have test on date 3 so cover everything till date 1's night. On date 2 you ll be revising things like highlighted points in biology ,tables , diagrams , formulas in physics, highlighted points in chemistry. It ll take only 3 or 4 hrs. When its around 3 PM or so...Close your BOOKS! AGAIN.... CLOSE YOUR BOOKS..
Now just try to relax and try to keep yourself away from social media.. go to a place of creatvity or talk to your family ...just do something which makes you happy.. dont think about whats gonna happen tomorrow.. You have studied enough and YOU KNOW THAT YOU LL DO IT. THATs IT. Try to sleep earlier ....dont make it later than 9 or so..
mostly we are unable to sleep on such days... we just keep moving and we cant fall asleep.. This is because we are too much worried about the test..If you ve relaxed then you wont face such situation.. Before going to bed make sure you ve done the following things
- 1. Your clipboard is lying in a place you know, and also...
- 2. Your Dollar Gel Ball Point/ Pointer or something related
- 3. Your ETEA roll Number
- 4. Your CNIC ( if compulsory)
- 5. Sweets ( might be chocolate or candies or something)
- 6. Watch ( Digital Watch recommended)
Wake up for fajar.. pray your prayer .. recite sura yasin and sura fateh.. and pray for yourself and your fellows..before your dua try to recite all the names of Allah so that you know who you are talking to..
Have Proper breakfast ( so that you dont suffer from hypoglycemia later)... and then try reaching the centre on time .. if you belong to a far flung area then make sure you have made your arrangments the previous day to be available at the center on time.
You are now in the BATTLEFIELD. The problem is ... we lose heart when we see the CROWD. Almost 10000 individuals in Peshawar center as I recall..Dont just give a Damn..You know that you have studied and that Allah is with You! What on Earth could make you fail. If you are satisfied deep in your heart that you are gonna make it then the huge crowd will not affect you.. If you are conscious that there will be a lot of people and Iam not gonna get worried then you ll be stable in the field!
Find your seat and just sit there.. Dont keep staring around ...just see whats in front of you ..its better to recite something you know.. mostly students' blood pressure get low due the stressful situation.. TRY eating one of those chocolates .. It ll help..They will provide you water so dont worry about that..The instructor will give you instructions ..listen to him carefully...Now this is the place where you are on your own! I cannot, unfortunately, help you further. ALL I CAN SAY IS "BEST OF LUCK"

FINAL WORDS:
This article is mainly based on the questions that students usually ask...But still if you think something is missing contact me through my email or Instagram.. send your queries.. I ll update this one or if necessary I ll write another one. All the students need guidance.. We learn things..we do not know them by birth.. but actually there are students who are not that much social...who live in villages or who cannot find someone who can help them in their studies..so this might prove fruitful for them...
If you think this article helped you somewhere.. then please DO pray for me from the CORE OF YOUR HEART...at least for once...Seriously there is no greater pleasure than knowing that someone is progressing or getting motivated just because of YOU!
After publishing the previous article I got a very good response from students and then students insisted me on writing another one with much more details..that is why I ve to write this one.
Here I would like you guys to make one promise to yourself... Somehow if you guys got through ETEA and achieved high marks..then you ll also be helping your juniors and you ll not leave them alone, either by writing an article like this or by motivating others in Person!
STAY BLESSED
BE HAPPY!
Note: All the academies, books or teachers whose names are mentioned in this writing never sponsored me to add their names. I added them because i thought they could be helpful to you. I write this blog with complete impartiality without associating myself with any of the academies !
